Stuart Lilie Saddlery
is pleased to offer custom handmade 18th Century shirts from seamstress Holly Wilkinson. This
late 18th century shirt is patterned from details of originals in Thoughts on Men's Shirts
in America, Rural Pennsylvania Clothing, and several 18th century shirts in the
Winterthur Collection. Mrs. Wilkinson creates these shirts based on your custom measurements
out of white shirt-weight linen, the most accurate material for the 18th century.
Details on this garment include thread buttons, topstitching on the collar,
wristbands, and gussets. All seams are handsewn with linen thread. The topstitching varies from
20 to 25 stitches per inch, depending on the precise weight of the fabric.
